FHE at the Erasmus'

Tonight for Family Home Evening Big Daddy had each of us tell what we learned from conference and what was our favorite talk. Awsome Dawson stated that he learned to be nice to everyone. Big Daddy asked which was his favorite talk, he answered "the Prophet of course". Next came my turn, which was an easy one for me, President Uchtdorf's talk on hope - LOVED IT. Ry-guy (who really shouldn't be going to the Priesthood session for another 6 months but somehow talked his way into going) stated his favorite talk was the one at Priesthood that said you should be nice to your wife! (ooh, maybe this was a good idea to have Ry go so he can remind his Dad of the most important talk), Next came Big E, his also came from the Prophet at the Priesthood session. It was about a young missionary who complained he didn't want to go on a spanish speaking mission because it was too hard to learn the language. President Monson's advice was to change the young missionary to the Japanese speaking mission. The young missionary quickly changed his mind and was sure he could learn spanish - he was now committed. Shelbs's liked that there was a repeat theme in most of the talks that she listened to.

We've also been having a discussion about evolution in our house lately - hmmm, seems 8th grade science is causing Big E to think about things. So Big Daddy took the opportunity to talk about how it was stated in conference that Adam was created in God's image and he was the first man on earth. Big E agreed completely and then began to talk about Kane (Cain? spelling is not my best subject) and said he heard Kane was cursed for what he did to Abel and became Big Foot (WHAT???) Ry-guy, only somewhat listening, said "What! John McCain is cursed and is going to become Big Foot!!!" - We all had a good laugh

I agree with Shelbs -- I loved the whole theme of conference--it was fab.

Love the John McCain comment--lots of democrats and even some repubs probably agree that McCain is cursed and wish that he would turn into bigfoot--hehe.

Sure wish I would have stayed for FHE! It would have been so fun to be there. Loved the John McCain remark! Pretty impressive that the kids knew so much about the conference talks!

I loved this---great FHE! All we did for FHE was try to have yet ANOTHER Birthday party for David----I am totally burned out on birthdays for at least another year!!!!

conference was fabulous---we really enjoyed listening to it at your house to. In fact, on the way home from lessons tonight Joseph was talking about the Sermon on the Mount and how it contains the 9 steps to becoming like God (??). Anyway, he talked about how the the first step was becoming meek. This is like the 100th time in the last month I have come across meek---at the temple, in the scriptures, at conference, etc. Someone is trying to tell me something, I think! Anyway, I told Joseph the definition of meek is NOT his mom--especially when people are driving TOO SLOW when we're very late for lessons! Anyway, we had the evolution talk at the beginning of the year when Joseph brought home several articles on evolution and why the biggest mistake in human history was to change from being a wanderer culture to an agricultural culture----WHAT IDIOT'S---HELLO, DO WE LIVE IN THE MIDST OF AN AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY (in Idaho) OR WHAT? Anyway, I looked up the author of all these articles on the internet and pretty extreme ideas---very atheistic. Oh well, now how did I get started on this! Sorry! Just related to your discussion---loved Ry-guy's comment!
